Ocean Forest on Sea Island
A private, gated community at the northern end of Sea Island, Georgia, Ocean Forest is a medley of four neighborhoods each with a unique set of attractions surrounding a renowned seaside golf course. Back in the day, if you pleased the king you could get a land grant…like James MacKay, the first English owner of Sea Island who fought in the battle of Bloody Marsh. Sadly those days are gone. You’re not getting a land grant. But you can buy a buildable lot. And you’ll be getting a piece of Sea Island. Think about that. While there is certainly no surplus of buildable Sea Island land available, you can still find a variety of home sites—particularly on the north end of Sea Island. Some are wooded, some are cleared. Along Oglethorpe Drive, you can find both inland properties and lots with river access. Within the exclusive, gated Ocean Forest Golf Community at Sea Island, lots are available in the Dunes Cottages subdivision where owners can design and build their own custom home from the ground up. Buyers of land on Sea Island are eligible for membership in the Sea Island Club which offers access to everything Sea Island has to offer along with championship golf at the Resort-owned courses on St. Simons Island.
